Grassroot Action Research
During the financial year 2009-2010 CRD began emphasising on doing various action researches especially on slow-moving vehicles. Initially the mission of this venture was to make aero-dynamically stronger rickshaw (tricycle) with reduced drudgery for the pullers. For the first time in its action, CRD formally started experimenting with its own experience and grassroot innovator. This mission was further enhanced with the support of Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development (STED) project and collaboration with D-Lab Programme of MIT, USA. Based on this research action, CRD has developed different model of tricycles with ‘double chain system,’ ‘triple sprocket chain system.’ In addition, it has innovated a lot in designing different slow-moving vehicles viz, momo cart, fruit/vegetable cart, fish cart, school van, ice cream cart etc. many of which are ready to ply on road providing an opportunity for micro-enterprise development.
